This is NOT what America is about.

CHIRLA’s reaction to Trump’s racist and deeply insensitive comments Thursday on immigrants coming to the US from certain countries:

The President’s language and tone when referring to immigrants gets even more insulting and hurtful as time goes by. This type of language from the President of the United States is unacceptable and should be rejected by Democrats and Republicans alike. This is not what America is about. What ever happened to his ‘bill of love’?

Congress must continue working together to reach a bipartisan, common-sense solution to the mess created by President Trump when he cancelled DACA. All efforts must be made to stop anti-immigrants in Congress and the White House from poisoning the well. Lawmakers unwilling to negotiate in good faith should get out of the way and decide if they are for family unity or racism.

Every day President Trump and Congress delays without reaching a permanent solution for 800,000 young immigrants, a DACA recipient and an immigrant family loses protection from being detained, arrested, and deported.
